The PCRG Board looks forward to a happy year, lays down upcoming plans

On July 2, 2019, the outgoing chair of the Philippine College of Governors (PCRG), Samuel “Sam” Pagdilao, passed the torch of leadership to Raul Peralta at the Marriott Hotel in Pampanga. More than a hundred governors and their spouses came to the event in formal attire.

A dance troupe presented Filipino dances. The incoming PCRG Board and their spouses presented a much-applauded song-and-dance routine.

Pagdilao made his leadership felt by putting forward a more specific vision and mission of the PCRG, supported by clear thrusts.

Peralta said he will strongly support the calling of RI Director Raffy Garcia to establish a Philippine zone, paving the way for more Filipino leaders to become RI Directors and eventually, RI Presidents. Director Garcia, who was abroad, reiterated his vision through a video shown during the event. To achieve this, the total Philippine membership should increase to 35,000. Thus, Peralta’s strongest priority is membership growth. Redistricting, Peralta says, allows more Rotarians to become governor, and participate in the goal of membership growth.

A measure advocated by Pagdilao, which will be continued by Peralta, is the promotion of the “Rotary Hymn” composed by George Canseco. A continuing resolve from the PCRG leadership of Pichoy Ramirez is to assist the districts in handling conflicts. Peralta plans to come up with a model process to promote the resolution of conflict in the districts.

He will hold the board meetings in different districts. The annual ROTACON will be held in the southern Philippines. PREGETS (PreGovernors-Elect Training Seminar) will be held at the Asian Institute of Management.

The PCRG will be involved in “Christmas in July,” an advocacy of Past RI President MAT Caparas to celebrate the first day of the Rotary year with the children in the communities. The event will be held at the Tuloy sa Don Bosco, a home for street children in Muntinlupa.
