Kalibo rotary clubs holds successful bloodletting activity

The bloodletting activity of Rotary clubs in Kalibo in early July, chaired by Past President Megz Lunn, served several purposes: to celebrate July as the World Donor’s Month; to serve as their kick-off project for the new Rotary Year; and, to help in blood-collection legacy of District 3850 Governor Raphy Tayco.

The participating clubs—RC Kalibo, RC Metro Kalibo, and Metro Kalibo Community Rotaract Club—generously donated blood in this project organized by the Philippine Red Cross Aklan chapter, Provincial Health Office, Department of Health, Aklan Blood Coordinating Council, in cooperation with the Municipality of Kalibo and CityMall Kalibo.

A total of 116 successful donors including Rotarians, Rotaractors, their family and friends went to CityMall Kalibo where the activity was held. Some Rotarians also filled up the universal membership program of the Philippine Red Cross.

A month before, Governor Raphy pledged to help the Philippine Red Cross collect quality blood supply. Signing a Memorandum of Agreement on behalf of District 3850, Governor Raphy promised that his district’s Rotarians and Rotaractors will collect 3,850 (or more) blood units for the Red Cross.
