Rotary Club Santa Rosa Centro formally hands over four toilets to an elementary school

The sun was shining brightly on the scheduled handover of four toilets to the Caingin Elementary School. Most thankful for the good weather was Brigada Coordinator Liberty Guico who made all the arrangements for the ceremony.

Planning of the project started one year ago with the first meeting of Champion President Cecile Gabatan and Rotarian Spouse Ed Gabatan with Principal Mercedita Laserna, and the school faculty. The toilets would be constructed for Classrooms 28, 31, 32, 33 of the Grade 1 Building, also called Security Bank Foundation Building. At the time, the building had only one common toilet with two cubicles located on the ground floor. Construction was done during the summer break to avoid disturbing the classes and was completed before the school year 2019 began.

Members of the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa Centro arrived at the school around 2pm for the formal handover ceremony. Rowena Solomon, public schools district supervisor for Cluster 2-A, welcomed everyone. President Cecile gave the handover message and reminded the students and faculty that the responsibility of ensuring that the toilet facilities continue to operate and serve its primary purpose are now in their hands. The event ended with Centronians, faculty, and guests sharing a meal prepared by the school.
