The 14th day of February, also known as Saint Valentine’s Day, is special all around the world. This annual festival celebrate romantic love like no other.
But for Rotarians across the globe, it is also another good day for service. In fact, Transforming President (TP) Guia Lopez de Leon of the Rotary Club of San Pedro South (RCSPS) spearheaded two worthwhile activities for the community this Valentine’s Day.
️Together with TP Amy Lea of the Rotary Club of Lucena University District (RCLUD) and TP Loveday Alyssa of the Rotary Club of Tayabas Central (RCTC), TP Guia, TP Amy and TP Loveday led these two projects that center on Disease Prevention and Treatment, and Maternal and Child Health.
The first project entitled “Give Love: A Valentine’s Project” is simply a sweet gesture of distribution of free balloons, candies and chocolates to surprise random pedestrians, vendors and safety officers. The smiles from these random strangers are, indeed, priceless.
Meanwhile, the second project is entitled “Proteksyong Rotaryo.” This is giving away of more than P300,000 worth of contraceptives, face shields, and vitamins.
What makes these month-long projects different is that the team are going house to house, barangay to barangay, to seek for the rightful recipients. In fact, last February 14, the first wave was done in various barangays with pre-assessment.
TP Guia also asked Ka-Wally of Media Axis to help them cover this project. With proper media mileage, the team is definite to be able to reach out for the families who are truly in most need.
Finally, with the new Triple Sisterhood Agreement of RCSPS, RCLUD and RCTC, signed on the 13th day of February at Lucena City, Quezon, more projects are to be expected with this dynamic trio.
More projects will be given genuine assessment, the necessary media mileage, and yes, a loving value. After all, Valentine’s is definitely not only for lovers, but also for true friends like these young and vibrant TPs… simply looking for more goodness, more wonders in the world.
