RCSPS Leads Another Balik-Probinsya Program

It all started with another message to Past President Shirley Tejero of the Rotary Club of San Pedro South (RCSPS) last
February 10.

According to their pastor, the Nayan Family, composed of nine members, was stranded in San Pedro, Laguna since the quarantine started. The family needed a transportation from Laguna to go home to their province in Tarlac. Out of her innate goodness, PP Shirley immediately sent some relief items like rice and canned goods. Then, she informed their Transforming President (TP) Guia Lopez de Leon about this.

As expected, TP Guia immediately took action. After all, this is, to date, her fourth “Balik-Probinsya” with Miss Yhet Basas Abelgas of Alagang Kalusugan Inc. and Bernard Herrera of Serbisyong Maypuso.

She instantly recalled the Rotary Clubs with the same “Balik Probinsya” initiatives. She contacted TP Matt Ignacio of the Rotary Club of Calamba City and TP Glenn Olivan of the Rotary Club of Binan, and fortunately, they also lovingly joined in the project.

By February 15, the team was all set to go. The necessary paper works and logistics, amidst a pandemic, were arranged by TP Zaldy Reyes, Past President (PP) Win Serrano and PP Michiko Licuanan of the Rotary Club of San Pedro South – New Generations.
Unfortunately, the family had accumulated a credit line to a sari-sari store nearby. This, of course, had to be cleared first. To the rescue was TP Shiela Sarmiento Santillan of the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa West. She was able to pay the debts of the family to their very understanding neighbor.

And last February 23, with God’s Grace, PP Bernard and PP Erwin were able to send the family back to their home sweet home. The family was truly happy to be back in their province.

Finally, this is just another small project initiated by RCSPS. But truly, this is something worth the time. As put in by MELDS Foundation, “we can amazingly change lives… one life at a time.”
