Rotary Club of Kalibo and Rotaract Club of Kalibo plant more than a thousand mangroves together

Last March 28, 2021, the Rotary Club of Kalibo and the Rotaract Club of Kalibo conducted a joint Tree Planting project.

The two clubs planted an estimate 1,000 Mangrove trees together in Barangay Pinamuk-an, New Washington, Aklan.

After the tree planting activity, they did an Environmental Clean-up of the coastal area of the same town.  Rotary Club of Kalibo President Leo Martinez and RAC of Kalibo President Ara Gold Hablero were joined by more or less 50 volunteers through their partners in service from the Philippine National Police, Philippine Red Cross Aklan Chapter, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and Philippine Coast Guard respectively.

President Leo was very much thankful to the following sponsors: Rotarian Bert Buyoc and Spouse Marlyn who prepared a delicious lunch at their “White House” residence; Rotarian Cedric Sazon and Spouse Pauline for providing transportation to the Rotaractors from Kalibo to New Washington and vice versa; The Plant Daddy, Southwest Travels and Tours, Kalibo Hotel, Bread and Butter, and Past Presidents Vic & Bing Santamaria.

Environment care is now one of the Seven Areas of Focus of Rotary International.
