May 2021 Issue is now online

The Rotary Year 2021-2022 is almost over.  This whole year is punctuated by the longest lock-down in the world due to the Covid19 pandemic.  And yet, it has also significantly showcased the value of the Rotary movement and depth of each Rotarian’s caring heart.  While many communities have been affected by the severe economic impact of the lockdown, it is Rotarians and their clubs everywhere that have been rising to the occasion to provide badly needed assistance.  Even more so when the communities are also affected by natural calamities.

Amidst the gloom of all of these terrible circumstances, Rotarians also bring hope.  Our cover features the lighting of the largest solar powered Philippine flag at the Rizal Park, Luneta. 3,000 lamps illuminated a symbol of hope and pride — our national flag.  Symbols are important — they provide the inspiration for hope and inspiration for service.

The Rotary Club of Makati Business District led the way with this project. This initiative is part of their Light It Forward challenge and they have executed a number of large scale solar artworks display not just in Manila but in Cebu as well. A message of hope and sustainability combined.
