District 3820: All Set to Find THE ONE

“Every day, we wake up to a world of news accentuating violence, pain and suffering. To offset this imbalance, we need to draw our attention to the goodness of mankind that exists in the world. THE ONE was created with the intention to find and empower an individual who is the epitome of the compassion and selflessness that lives within us all.” ~ The One Philippines (TOP)

Last May 15, District Governor Nominee Gina GS Sy and PP/Chair Mark Anthony Halili pre-launched this “Search for the Unsung Heroes in the Philippines.” And to “Find THE ONE” in Rotary International District 3820, four Transforming Presidents (TP) namely TP Guia Lopez de Leon of the Rotary Club of San Pedro South, TP Fatima Gammad Acuña of the Rotary Club of Lipa West (RCLW), TP Eboy Tan of the Rotary Club of Lucena North, and TP Anthony Hao of the Rotary Club of Iriga will serve as Co-chair for Areas 1 to 4, respectively.

“THE ONE” will win a grand prize of P1,500,000 and a trophy. He/she will also automatically qualify as a semi-finalist of THE ONE International Humanitarian Award. Two runners-up will each receive PHP 500,000 and the five finalists will win PHP 100,000 each.
The team already had a Zoom Meeting on May 18, at 8:00pm, and the preliminaries were discussed by PP/Chair Halili and DGN Sy to the Co-chair.

Last June 5, the team had a face-to-face discussion over sumptuous lunch for the launch of TOP to District 3820’s President Nominees on June 8, via Zoom. Joining the Technical Committee are Rotarian Charmaine Bacila of RCLW and TP Carlo Manas of the Rotary Club of Bay.

Moreover, the teaser is already being shown to Area Recognition Award Ceremonies being held at Quezon, Bicol, Laguna, and Batangas. Under the guidance of DGN Sy and Chair Halili, District 3820 is all set to find “THE ONE.”

As emphasized by TOP, “this recognition of the unsung hero aims to further his or her good work with monetary reward, and at the same time, aims to boost the spirit and morale of Philippine residents to serve and to encourage more selfless good work.”  This Search perfectly reflects “Service above Self”, the motto of Rotary, with all its goodness and purity.
