Rotary Metro Kalibo collaborate with Philippine Red Cross Youth-Aklan to address mental health

Last May 14, Rotary METRO Kalibo and Philippine Red Cross Youth – Aklan collaborated for a 3-hour Mental Health Session by PRC Aklan Chapter Representative for Youth – Errol R. Ordines.

With the crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, many are currently facing challenges that are stressful, overwhelming, and trigger strong emotions, especially among adults and teens.

Social distancing may cause anxiety since there are people who are afraid to be alone. A Greek Philosopher once said, “Man by nature a social animal.”

A mental health expert says, “Taking care of yourself can better equip you to take care of others. Stay connected with your friends and family and help others cope with stress through reaching out, by phone or social media. But, consider also limiting or disconnecting from phone, tv, and computer screens for a while.”

More or less 25  members of Sangguniang Kabataan Coalition attended the session. Present on behalf of President Rosie Reyes was Public Image Director Megs Lunn with PPSK President John Jerol Bautista, Laguinbanwa East Barangay Chairman Lalaine Tan and Municipal Head of Sigaw ng Kabataan Coalition Numancia Chapter Emmanuel John Jauod.

The event was one of the many programs scheduled for May with a Rotary Youth Service focus.
