Rotary Youth Summit 2021 kicks off

On the evening of May 13 via Zoom and the KCTV Community Channel, the Rotary Youth Summit 2021 commenced.

The event was hosted by Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo, Rotary Club of Kalibo, Rotary Club of Zamboanga City Central, Rotary Club of Iloilo City in D3850, and Rotary Club of Midtown Diliman (D3780) plus the 8Layer Technologies Inc. It was in partnership with youth leaders from RAC of Kalibo, RAC of Tolosa Community, RAC of Unibersidad de Zamboanga-CES, RAC of Iloilo City, Interact Club of Unibersidad de Zamboanga-CES, Interact Club of Ferndale International School, Interact Club of Wadeford, and Aklan Baghay, Inc. MULAT TV, KCTV and Love Radio covered the event.

“We, Filipinos in particular, are known for our resiliency and grace under pressure. We can laugh and joke amidst problem, calamity and even this pandemic. Let us be a blessing to others. Be a channel of peace, start within yourselves, start within your families, advocate, peace within your peers. While this pandemic may have brought suffering to many of our Filipinos, let not this pandemic take away our hope and our faith. In these dark times, may you be the light to others, by your acts of charity and kindness. Fill the social media environment with messages of hope, of charity, and of kindness,” this was part of Atty Flosemer Gonzales’ speech during the summit.
The Assistant Provincial Prosecutor, Office of the Regional State Prosecutor, Legal Cooperation Cluster RTF6-ELCAC Chairperson, and Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict Spokesperson, and PAC PTD, Aklan Baghay, Inc. wanted the youth to embrace volunteerism at a young age.

“Are you completely comfortable with calling yourselves a leader? Many people shy away from identifying themselves as a leader. We devalue the things that we do to other people. Knowingly or unknowingly, we don’t take credit because we think it is just a menial job, that anybody does it anyway. The leadership potential that it is in us have not been expressed. To be a leader must be a lifelong learner, not perfect. There must be a room to learn more. The man who graduates today and stop learning tomorrow is uneducated the day after. What have you done today that makes you feel good? Have you ever had a ‘lollipop’ moment? Something that you make other people feel better. Lollipop is only a medium. It can be a hamburger, etc. “THANK YOU” is to express your appreciation for that other guy across you. Real leadership is seen clearly in the small moments of our life. Being a leader is about behaving in a way that makes the life of another person better than before you arrived,” PP Ramon “Mon” Dacayo urged the audience to think and reexamine their thoughts and actions in his talk about “My Lollipop Moments.” He is The Regal Eagle Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator (Zone 10A) from Rotary Club of Meycauayan East, D3770.
