June 2021 Issue is now online

As the Rotary year winds down to a close, your Philippine Rotary Magazine reflects upon the achievements of this year’s Board of Trustees through Chairman PDG Rey David’s summation of their accomplishments and initiatives. The list includes the adoption of a Digital Transformation Strategy and its implementation, the launching of the all-digital Philippine Rotaract Magazine, the creation of a PRM Public Image Committee, the conduct of a PRM Readership Survey and the increase in subscription numbers from 21,000 to 22,500. All these despite the challenges of a pandemic-filled Rotary year.

Our District Governors also reflect on the achievements their individual districts accomplished — significant that the term service is even more amplified when you consider the difficulties operating during the lockdowns imposed by the government. And yet, Rotarians, Rotary Clubs, Rotaract Clubs and Rotary Districts all came through shining with significant service projects that positively benefitted the communities where they serve. It has never been a better time to be a Rotarian!

This issue also features the winners of the annual Rotary Magazines Photo Awards, this time it also reflects the challenges of pursuing worthwhile subjects amidst the pandemic. Our judge, photojournalist Barbara Davidson, evaluated the photographs with an exacting eye. “I look for use of color as an element of composition, I look for degrees of tones in black-and-white images, and I look for strong composition and an advanced level of photography as craft,” Davidson says. But the technical achievement has to be in service of something. “The images that stand out invite one to linger on the photograph and successfully inspire an emotional response.
