Rotary Project Toilet benefits seven households for July

After its kickoff last week, five more households received toilet bowls from RC Metro Kalibo.

The third visit was Mrs. Jonalyn A. Saquita from Dongon West, Numancia,  Aklan. She has 6 children and lives in a secluded area of the barangay. In this pandemic, she learned to work as “Roofmaker” (Magpapawid) while her husband works in a construction on a part time basis.

Next household was Mrs. Sheinette C. Masula of Sitio Katibyugan, Dongon West, Numancia, Aklan. Her husband works as laborer for hollow block making while she is a homemaker and they have one son.

Household #5 was that of Ronel Tabol who is a fisherman. His wife is a homemaker with 3 children and lives in Purok 3. Household #6 Rose Estrellion, a homemaker and husband is a  construction worker. They have 2 children and lives in Purok 2. Household #7 is RP John Maang. His mother Lisa Maang received it on his behalf. RP is a part time laborer while the wife works as kasambahay. They have 1 child and lives in Purok 1.

Life-Changing President Loida M. Enero, Past President Joel Enero and Past President Megs Lunn led the quick turn over with the club’s humanitarian partner Philippine Red Cross Aklan Chapter led by Administrator Mary Joe B. Galeon. They were joined by community volunteers Charles Galeon and Navitas Barangay Chairman Frany Reyes with Kagawad Ryan Jay Latina and Kagawad Joel Nedic who did the community assessment prior to the distribution.

Project Toilet is the club’s flagship project for RY 2021-2022 in response to Sanitation and Hygiene. This project is highly supported by District 3850 Governor Edwin G. To, who also committed to donate 2 toilet bowls each month. His battlecry for this Rotary Year: “TOgether We Can, TOgether We Will.”

The COVID-19 pandemic is a threat to everyone, including to Rotary. But this will not beat Rotarians in doing good and serving their community. There are many ways how and there is no need to go far. Rotarians also need to protect themselves from the virus.

Rotary Project Toilet during its kickoff last July as the new Rotary calendar started has announced that it is open for collaboration. Anyone can do something to make a difference. To any interested community volunteer, THANK YOU.
