This issue is a tribute to one of our giants in the Rotary world as well as in Philippine Sports. Past R.I. Director Rafael “Paing” Hechanova left an indelible imprint on not only Rotary in the Philippines but also worldwide. Sadly, he passed on very recently and until the last few days of his life, he continued to be influence on Rotary through his presence and wise counsel.
We explore the life and achievements of a great Rotarian and an Olympian in Philippine basketball. He is quoted to saying “One cannot serve without loving and one cannot love without service. Love for others is what Rotary is.” It is difficult to compress a life into several pages but try we must. This issue is a tribute to a servant leader and a man for others.
