Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo continues dressmaking course

Using Rotary Global Grant #1980249, Numancia Integrated School’s Grade 12 TechVoc subject in dressmaking lives on. The grant is under one of the Rotary International Areas of Focus in Economic and Community Development.

Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo’s President Nominee Edwin L. Autencio has been in-charge of the project since RY 2018-2019. This was made possible through the club’s international partner in Korea, the Rotary International Grants and District 3850. The photos were taken during one of the limited sessions at the dressmaking laboratory.

PN Edwin said, “Amidst the pandemic, as an educator, I try to deliver the experiential skills learning of my learners with utmost care by following health safety protocols like washing and spraying  alcohol on hands, wearing of face masks and social distancing. To ensure that we practiced such protocols, I have them come by group of six per batch, but only for those who were given Parental/Guardian’s Consent. They need to learn by doing, not only by reading.”

Indeed, at this time of global pandemic and crisis, Rotarians need to teach by doing in order to help learners be better, rather than be contained by the pandemic. This is the way to teach them to acquire skills and later become productive citizens of society. The new normal is about adaptability and flexibility.

Rotarians are here to “Serve to Change Lives” for the better.
