LTE Pocket Wifi Distribution to Support Teacher’s Connectivity

Kauswagan Central School Annex – City Engineering Campus has experienced difficulty in the conduct of their online class when they altogether connect the one modem provided by the Department of Education to their campus for internet connectivity. There was an urgent need to address the connection issue, and one solution identified is to have more modems or device with which each teacher can connect.

On September 24, 2021 RC West CDO acted and provided solutions for the problem and delivered/turn over to KCS Annex – City Engineering Campus the sixteen (16) pocket wifi to the school teachers on the site. This project is under the area of focus, Basic Education and Literacy, #BrigadaSkwela2021.

The turnover started with a prayer, followed by the singing of the national anthem and PD Airene Suan was invited to give a backgrounder on how the project came about. PSDS Dr. Sadaga was also invited to speak on the schools behalf and share her thoughts about the project. She commended Rotary Club for being the breath of hope and blessing to the teachers and consequently to the education’s recipient, the students. She even went on and mentioned the project got her curious about “how to join the club” as she has seen the club at work in helping the society. She expressed her gratitude and the in behalf of the school extended appreciation for the club in promptly addressing the pressing connectivity needs.

On the side of the Rotary Club of West Cagayan de Oro, President Clifford G. Roa was invited to present the project. Pres. Clifford introduced Rotary Club and its team members for the project, he discussed how important it is for the club to help and address this pressing concerns. He also mentioned that most of the team members are teachers in their respective fields of expertise. He shared about the plight of the school teachers during this pandemic, and that he understood the predicament being a son of an educator himself. He also remarked on the difficulties and challenges even with the system, but quickly pivoted in saying that “we help address the challenges in the system” because the system is not perfect, we will and must be resilient, he added.

After Pres. Clifford’s presentation of the project, the turn over of pocket wifi began and all members of the team present namely,  PAG Ferdinand “Edong” Espiritu, PAG  and Project Director Almarico Brito, PD Airene Suan, VP Dr. Dures Tagayuna, Dir. Atty Maria Gloria Tango, Chair Rtn. Raymond Vasquez were called to be infront to assist in the distribution of the pocket wifi to each individual school teachers.

After the distribution of the pocket wifi units, the school principal Dr. Oliveros was asked to also speak and she expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the club and the team for organizing the project and choosing KCS Annex as the beneficiary of service. She mentioned that Rotary Club is not new to her as she herself is a MOPSTA awardee in Camiguin and has long been experiencing the blessings of being an awardee being invited to different places/events to speak about her experience. She also said that she had seen Rotary Club in action for solutions countless times and even KCS and its teachers have been recipients of the benefits of the club’s project. She shared the challenges of the schools, and having the pocket wifi already addressed by the club, that’s one off her list and somehow felt relieved despite all the other mountains of challenges that the school is climbing and have yet to climb. She anchored her speech as well on the statement of Pres Cliff saying “everything happens for a purpose” – she said, that even throughout the week and that day itself she’s been conquering mountains of challenges, and in the end, while she was making her speech, she realized, indeed, there’s a reason for everything. She highlighted in her speech how she appreciates the club’s values or the 4 way test, she went and shared that she even recalled those four up to this date. She concluded her speech by saying, “the KCS Annex  School Teachers are destined to receive those blessings today!”

Tears and laughter creating an emotional environment for all teachers in receiving their pocket wifi. The school teachers even went ahead and presented a short dance presentation as their token of appreciation to the club. PD Airene then invited the team members and the teachers to join in partaking of the food they prepared for the club members and the teachers.
Indeed, as one author say, “everyone can experience the joy and blessing of generosity; because everyone has something to give.” Rotary Club of West Cagayan de Oro is  thankful to the following generous sponsors of the pocket wifi PAG Ferdinand “Edong” Espiritu, PAG Almarico “Al” Brito, VP Dr. Dures Tagayuna, PP Anna Marie Medes, Pres. Clifford G. Roa, Rtn. Glorecita Tan, Rtn. Raymond Vasquez, Rtn. Bernie Deatras for quickly responding to the need that greatly contributed to the success of the project.
