Rotary Club of Roxas donates school facilities and gadgets to an elementary school

November 26, 2021 was a blessed day for Venancio Alba Elementary School (VAES),  the recipient of school facilities and special technology gadgets officially turned over by the Rotary Club of Roxas, RID 3850.  The school is located at the National Highway, Barangay Bolo, Roxas City, Philippines.

The club received a global grant 2094980 of $34,913.00.   This humanitarian project aims to “Improving  Special Education in the City of Roxas,  Philippines”, as its project title describes it.  The project is to serve  Rotary’s area of focus, basic education and literacy. The grant will be primarily used to acquire instructional materials, renovate structures in Venancio Alba Elementary School, and for operations.  For now, TRF allows the purchase of tablets for SpEd teachers and program implementers.

This project came up after a thorough assessment of three Special Education (SPED) Schools of Roxas City School Division was conducted. Under the guidance of PDG Mark Anthony Ortiz, it was revealed   that these schools, which include VAES, have minimal to nil instructional materials and supplies. The project was then designed to fill this gap and innovate with the use of technology for teaching across spectrums.  There is also a need to renovate VAES so that it will serve as a pilot/model SPED campus where children with special needs (visually or hearing impaired or those with a learning difficulty) are given better education through proper facilities and infrastructure that can withstand any disaster.

Thank you and congratulations to RC Roxas!   Deep gratitude and appreciation are also given to the RC Roxas’ partner, the Rotary Club of Jinju Daebong, South Korea, RID 3590.    Oh, how we love this kind of grant-funded project sprouting in RID3850!

The more we contribute to The Rotary Foundation, the more we get grants.
