The Rotary Club of Bacolod, in partnership with Sy Boon Pit Foundation, the late Councilor Elmer Sy, the Liga ng Mga Barangay (League of Barangays) of Bacolod City and this year’s corporate partner CM & Sons Food Products (Merzci), undertook a safe drinking water distribution program for the marginalized communities in Bacolod City every Saturday.
The project which started during the term of Past President Frederick Anthony de Leon for Champion Rotary Year 2019-2020 aims to provide clean, safe, accessible water to the communities that would positively impact the recipient’s health, quality of life and human capital.
A total of 55 communities were served during RY2019-2020 that includes calamity response in the towns of Pres. Roxas, Pilar, Panay and Pontevedra, Capiz brought about by Typhoon Ursula last Dec 2019.
The “Tubig Para Sa Barangay” has been recognized by the District 3850 during the DISCON as follows :
1.Champion Project in Water & Sanitation (RY2019/20)
2.Transforming Project in Public Image – Tubig Para sa Barangay Truck – Rotary Club of Bacolod (RY2020/21)
3.Transforming Community Project in Water and Sanitation – Tubig Para sa Barangay – Rotary Club of Bacolod (RY2020/21)
Now in its 3rd year, the water and grocery items distribution was led by Life Changing President Pauline Cuaycong, Asst. Treasurer Michelle Medrano, Director Marjorie Dino, Rtn. Rudyla Fabellana, Rotaractors (headed by LCP Deanna Therese Cerna and Adviser/Moderator Mr. Bong Lacanilao), Interactors (headed by Club adviser/moderator Mr. Kizerr Alejandro, Club Secretariat, Brgy. Captain Leah Palma), and the various Brgy. officials.
A total of 55 communities served during RY 2019-2020, while there was a total of 42 communities served during RY 2020-2021
This Life-Changing Year 2021-2022, there has been 20 communities served so far, namely:
