RC Metro Kalibo holds two-day Livelihood Skills Training on Food Processing

From December 2 to 3, 2021, RC Metro Kalibo joined the celebration of The International Day of People with Disability, with its partners in service – the PWD Tangalan Association. They are strongly supported by LGU Tangalan, Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) and Deparment of Trade and Industry (DTI). 

Yesterday during the Closing Program, President of PWD Sustainable Livelihood Program Mr. Josefino B. Tumbagahan, Jr. gave his welcome remarks; followed by short messages from MSWD Head Mr. Leonardo B. Bantad, Jr. and DTI Senior Business Councilor of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Trainor Mr. Rodene Panganiban; Municipal Mayor Gary Fuentes and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Jay Tejada, gave their inspirational message and shared the importance of PWD inclusions and equality in their local governance. Also present was Person with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) Head/Focal Person- Mr. Renon T. Antaran, who gave his closing remarks. 

Prior to the training, Tangalan SB Member Edena Gelito donated kitchen equipment – 2 heavy duty electrical burners and 20.9 cylinder LPG Tank, plus more kitchen utensils and materials from DTI. 

This year’s theme is “Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible, and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.” The skills training included food processing on pork longganisa, chicken & pork tocino, and beef tapa. 

Kudos to Past President Ricky Molo of PWD Tangalan Association, also our club’s PWD Committee Chair for facilitating the activities. Present in the opening were life changing president Loida Enero, Director Public Image PP Megs Lunn and President Nominee Edwin Autencio. Special thanks to BB Cares of Bread and Butter and our fellow Rotarians who contributed to the two-day successful event.
