SIX YOUNG SAGAYNONS from disadvantaged sectors were recipients of Rotary Club of Sagay Sinigayan’s Child and Youth Intervention Program

Rotary Club of Sagay Sinigayan on its Child and Youth Intervention Program, in partnership with Congressman Leo Rafael M. Cueva of the 2nd Congressional District of Negros Occidental, provides educational assistance and support to street, indigenous and marginalized children of Sagay City.

Two are street children, another one is helping his father fish on weekends, a young girl is helping her parents earn through food selling and working as a laundry girl and another one is a member of the indigenous community.

Sagay City Mayor Thirdy Maranon lauded and thanked the club for this noteworthy endeavor and thanked them for this good initiative.

Congressman Leo Rafael M. Cueva is grateful for this meaningful partnership and stressed that good governance is about productive collaboration from all sectors and creating impactful projects for the good of the public. President Jezreel Alingco also expressed his thanks to Mayor Thirdy and Cong Bebo and thanked the project incharge Rotarians Aldous Malicay and Loued Lachica.

The goal of the project is to equip the beneficiaries who all came from disadvantaged sectors the essential and needed support to education and the right mentoring for them to be able to finish their education and to land a decent job in the future.

This educational assistance for the identified beneficiaries were in the form of financial aid to cover the transportation, school supplies and other school related expenses. A monthly allowance will be provided to beneficiaries depending on their respective grade level such that Elementary students will receive 250-300/month whilst senior high and college were given 1,200-1500/month.

Beneficiaries under online class were also provided with mobile phones for them to actively participate and satisfactorily comply with all the requirements in their respective classes.

Also present during the event were District AG Allan Nuega, COP & Pres. Kendal Ang, PP Sugar Ababao, PP Bobby Tinsay Rotary Club of Escalante members headed by Pres. Eva Daga.

The club has already signified its commitment to carry through as the flagship program of the RCSS .
