Rotary is a good ally to people with disabilities. For more than 14 years now, Project WALK has been changing lives, one amputee at a time.
About 10 amputees (kids and adults) for casting and fitting were brought to Iloilo last June 21, 2022 by the Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo (D3850).
Mr. Ex Soguilon is one of our WALK applicants who was given a free wheelchair during the visit of Gov. Edwin To in Aklan last Mach 30, 2022. The former’s captured photo on the streets was flooding Facebook because of the compassion of the Filipino people asking for help on his behalf. We were one of those who had an opportunity to see him along the highway selling brooms and begging for a living. MPS Ibajay PCPT John Darrel Villanueva took care of his logistics from Ibajay to our assembly point today.
Ruth Balibalos, now 6yo was abandoned by her father when he knew she was born without limbs. Her mother is OFW in Jordan and she is left under the care of the grandmother. Both Ex and Ruth are from Ibajay, Aklan.
Meanwhile, Ms. Aialyn Itulid from Brgy. Daja Norte, Banga, Aklan is graduating from Grade 12 TechVoc Livelihood at Rosario National High school. She wishes to have her prosthesis legs before graduation this June 28, 2022. What a good timing for her fitting today. We wish her good luck as she dreams to become a Lawyer someday.
