RC Metro Kalibo welcomes a new Rotary Year

July 1 is a celebration of Rotarians around the world. The month of July is the start of the fiscal year for Rotary Year 2022-2023. Our club led by the current President Romeo “Romy” Reyes, Jr., had numerous activities early on.

We distributed Covid 19 essentials (Facemask, alcohol, soap), mini electric fan, school stuff and snacks, to more or less 150 pupils and parents. PP Ricky Molo spearheaded the event, together with our partners from Dream Church and Dream Center and The Creative Child Learning Center.

Also, through the mandate of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), we requested our humanitarian partner Philippine Red Cross Aklan to talk about Disaster Risk Reduction through their Chapter Service Representative for Disaster Management and Health Services Ms. Ritchel Joy I. Villarias, while Chapter Safety Representative Ms. Elisa A. Garcia shared about the importance of the Red Cross MAAB.

July is National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) with the theme – “Ligtas na Bayan, Maunlad na Pamayanan”.

Today’s event was back-to-back with the Rotaract Club of Metro Kalibo, ALS Interact Club & NIS Interact Club of Metro Kalibo, and RCC of Metro Kalibo. Simultaneously, they did coastal clean-up, tree planting and recycling through “Basura Mo, Eco-R.A.E. Ko”. Likewise, New Generations Director President-Elect Edwin L. Autencio, Rotaractors Marnette Autencio and MJ Tungala did the turn over of 9 toilet bowls through Project TOilet, to the 2nd Aklan Provincial Mobile Force Company (APMC). The household recipients were assessed last June from Caticlan, Malay, Aklan.

Present today were Pres. Romeo Reyes, Club Secretary PP Rosie Reyes, PP Johnny Retamar,  President-Elect Edwin Autencio and ALS Adviser Roje Ereñia. Other partners in service were Kalibo Pilot Elementary School (KPES) and Numancia Integrated School (NIS) as venue hosts, District 3850 Immediate Past District Governor (PDG) Edwin To, and our media partners – Kalibo Cable TV Network and Love Radio.

Congratulations Pres. Romy. Keep it up!
