RC Kalibo highlights the importance of being kind through the Compassion Project

To celebrate August as the Membership Month, The Rotary Club of Kalibo launched the Compassion Project last July 30, 2022. This was initiated by Pres. Nikki Tayco. It aims to give cheer, show sympathy, concern, kindness, love and care to ailing and aging Rotarians/Spouses/Rotakids (past or present). We want to honor the works that they did during the prime of their health.

We want to show that we care, we remember and no one will feel left behind. We visited former Rotarian Efren Abayon and Past President Gus Solmirano. We brought bread baskets and handwritten messages from our members. We laughed at old times and reminisced on Rotary meetings, activities and fellowships. We even met their grandchildren who were former beneficiaries of Rotary when they both needed medical attention especially with the heart operation of James Daniel.

They proudly showed their scars and thanked Rotary for saving their lives. They extend their appreciation and thanks to RCK for remembering them and keeping them in our prayers. You see, it does not cost much to be kind. Everyone is fighting their own battles that we do not know. Just be kind. You can not do kindness too soon for you’ll never know how soon will be too late.

The Compassion Project is done every last Saturday of the month. In photo during the visits were Pres. Nikki Tayco, PDG Raphy Tayco and PP Vady Marin.
