RC Metro Kalibo and Barangay Joyao-Joyao undertake Adopt a Happy Barangay project

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed last Sept. 19, 2022 between the Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo represented by Pres. Romeo Reyes, Jr. and Barangay Joyao-Joyao represented by Punong Barangay Percy Rasgo. Both parties agreed to undertake a Project called “Adopt a Happy Barangay” project for RY 2022-2023.

Prior to the signing, the MOU was discussed thoroughly by Director Public Image PP Megs Lunn, with the understanding that the Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo will assist/help and support in the implementation of a holistic program anchored on the needs of the community and according to the availability of resources. Moreover, for a greater impact to involve family members, local governments and other stakeholders, like the Barangay health workers, tanods, nutritionist, and municipal police office for peace and order, to name a few.

D3850 Gov. John Michael Ng said, “Happy Barangay is one of the most holistic approaches to community service because we are integrating with the community, identify their problems, and address the root-cause thereof. It is the goal of the Rotary to encourage each club to adopt a barangay to come up and implement a holistic program anchored on the needs of the respective adopted barangay for a greater impact in our community. With this approach, we are involving family members and local governments to implement an integrated response to the identified problems of a particular community.”

Witnesses were Club Secretary PP Rosie Reyes, Director New Generations & VP/PE Edwin L. Autencio and Day Care Center Teacher-in-Charge Ms. Juvy Santiago.

Also present were PP Johnny Retamar and PP Nestor Bartolome, with Joyao-Joyao Barangay Secretary, MPS Numancia Police Community Relations/PNCO PSSg Jeanaylee Macario, together with ALS Interact Pres. Sandra Dela Cruz, Rotaract Public Image Angel Fajardo, NIS Interactor Noreen Bernas and RCC Pres. Hana Lee Fulgencio. The MOU signing was held at Barangay Joyao-Joyao hall, Joyao-Joyao, Numancia, Aklan.

A kick-off activities was scheduled on September 24, 2022, together with the New Generations Club. Imagine a better community. Imagine a happy barangay.
