Our Clubs

Rotaract Club of Metro Kalibo, NIS and ALS Interact Clubs of Metro Kalibo conduct storytelling activity for less fortunate children

This month is also “International Literacy” with the theme: “Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces”. According to UNESCO, “this is an opportunity to rethink the importance of literacy learning spaces to build resilience and ensure quality, equitable, and inclusive education for all.”

Rotary is also responding through Basic Education and Literacy, one of the Seven Area of Focus of Rotary International. We respond through conducting a reading program, distribution of school essentials, giving books and outreach programs, supporting a rural library or partnering with our Department of Education (DepEd).

Last September 24, our partners in service Rotaract Club of Metro Kalibo, NIS and ALS Interact Clubs of Metro Kalibo, joined hand-in-hand to conduct a storytelling in mother tongue (Aklanon).

Rotaractor Ehd De Jose led the reading with passion and fun to the delight of the children. The children were participative and you can see in them the hunger for knowledge. It was held at Barangay Joyao-Joyao Covered Court, during the kick-off ceremonies of Adopt a Happy Barangay.

The pandemic has driven learning losses, to school relocation and worst stopping school (drop-outs). Let us give hope through action, donating reading materials, and  teaching the children how to read, write and comprehend.

Imagine smarter children. Imagine a better world.
