Rotary Project WALK gives update on Ruth’s progress

The Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo (D3850) recently visited Ruth to check in on her progress, and they were thrilled to find her in good health. She is now able to attend school comfortably, thanks to her prosthetic limbs.

“Our journey with Ruth began on September 28, 2021, when Past President Ricky I. Molo, our club’s PWD Committee Chair, discovered then 5-year-old Ruth in Ibajay, Aklan through a referral from his friend, Jonathan. We brought her to the Walk and Works Foundation in Iloilo for casting on March 31, 2022, and her prosthetic was successfully fitted on June 20, 2022.”

Ruth Balibalos, now 7 years old, was abandoned by her father when he learned she was born without limbs. Her mother is an OFW in Jordan, leaving her under the care of her loving grandmother.

For the past 14 years, Rotary Project WALK has inspired those who are less fortunate by finding deserving, impoverished recipients. RCMK have partnered with WALK, Inc., Rotary Club of Forbes Park (D3830), and other collaborators to assist individuals with disabilities, restore their self-confidence, build their self-esteem, and ultimately enable them to become responsible and productive members of society.

Kudos to another WALK recipient Rotarian Addryan Martires, for assisting WALK INC. Executive Director PP Megs Lunn during the visit.
