The rapid pace of innovation and digitalization has prompted more and more leaders and stakeholders to consider how different technologies can be maximized for the benefit of all people. Civic hacker turned Digital Minister for Taiwan Audrey Tang will discuss how digital interventions are increasingly being interwoven into Taiwanese governance: from information dissemination to co-creation of policy. The Hon. Minister Tang will relate the different approaches they took to empower their citizens: from the use of digital forums and bulletins to collect and share information in a secure way, to the use of memes to spread scientific knowledge about COVID-19 — ultimately highlighting how tech enables the co-creation of policy.

Coding For the Public Good
Next, Hadi Partovi, technopreneur and founder of internationally-renowned education platform CODE.org, will share how his organization is working to grow education in computer science, believing that this is a foundational skill for employment and civic engagement. Leveraging his experience in scaling CODE.org, Hadi will share how they are working to bridge the digital divide for learners of all ages, stimulating creativity and collaboration through the courses they offer online and the curricula they design for schools.
