Author Dreus Cosio leads RCSPS’ Classification Talk 2020

Rotary Club of San Pedro South (RCSPS) President Guia de Leon shares the exciting line-up of activities they have for August including webinars with leaders from the religious and youth sectors

If there is one essential thing that this Rotary Year seems to offer more than the previous years, then it is the power of connection.
Due to the pandemic, the new normal requires us to do these three things: wearing of face masks and face shields, frequent hand washing, and yes, doing some social distancing. In effect, all Rotary Meetings are advised to be done online.

RCSPS was extra blessed to have a renowned speaker and bestselling author, Mr. Dreus Cosio, on August 6, 2020 via Zoom.

Mr. Dreus Cosio is not only a Feast Builder (of Author Bo Sanchez) and Financial Advisor, he also started Pathfinders & Doers Opc. housing to brands like Sketchpad Workshops, Suited MNL. He is also the famous vlogger of “The Co-Show,” together with his lovely wife, Mrs. Love.

It was our Youth Service (YS) Chair Mykish Sacro who initiated and invited him for this RCSPS meeting. The YS Chair, accordingly, wanted to reignite our greatness within, and she thought that Sir Cosio can elaborate more how to live a good life despite the crisis.

True enough, the webinar entitled “Youth Service: Not Your Ordinary Classification Talk” had a 100% Club Attendance and Engagement.
Not only did we have a bestselling author and sought-after speaker in the house, District Rotaract Representative (DRR) Ren Alcantara Seraspe of District 3820 also graced the event. She inspired our youngsters, Rotaract San Pedro South, Rotaract San Pedro All Star and Interact Adelina 1 National High School, to be leaders with really, really great causes.

I, together with Vocational Director Joy Lagrimas and Rotaractor Victor James Escolano, introduced ourselves in a poetic way. We called this style “Gawad Way,” and it was done as a prelude for their “Buwan ng Wika” celebration.

On August 20, Dr. Virgilio Almario, a National Artist, will be the very Special Guest of RCSPS on their webinar entitled “Filipino: Wika ng Kampeon, at Lunsaran ng Makabayang Kamalayan.” Joining sir “Rio Alma” is the Baybayin Buhayin, Inc. Founder, Rev. Jose Jaime “Jay” Enage, and some more Filipino writers.

Indeed, this pandemic is giving us more and more ways to connect to inspiring people. The theme, Rotary Opens Opportunities, is very apt as Rotarians all around the world are opening more and more opportunities for each and everyone.
