Rotary Clubs join forces to give wheelchairs and other devices to indigent patients

All together, Rotary Clubs of Forbes Park (D3830), Metro Kalibo and Kalibo (D3850), Pasay Southeast (D3810), Latter Day Saints, and Stimulation and Therapeutic Activity Center (STAC) Kalibo gave assistance to Wishes of Aid and Limbs for Kids (WALK), Inc. and Physicians For Peace (PFP) Philippines

Last August 29, members of various rotary clubs visited WALK, Inc. and PFP Philippines to personally hand wheelchairs and assistive devices to 13 recipients through Rotary Project WALK 2020.

The following recipients were Manuel Ramos and Rey Quinto who are suffering from stroke; Erlinda Inamarga who is frail and of old age; Roger Dela Cruz, Ronald Dela Cruz, and Arnold Dela Cruz who all have muscular dystrophy; John Mark Beltran who suffers from Global Developmental Delay; Gabriel Angelo Teodosio, Veana Joy Domo-os, Blessei Angelic Delos Reyes, and Hannah Neta Cuales who have Cerebral Palsy, Nicole Quinones with Down Syndrome, and Jei Nichole Relabo who has an intellectual disability.

The said giving was long-overdue. The equipment arrived last week of February 2020 and the giving was scheduled last March 14, the day Metro Manila announced the lockdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Doctors were not able to travel so the event was postponed. Fast forward to 6 months, the turnover finally happened that made everyone emotional and happy.

The event, dubbed as Rotary Project WALK, is the flagship project of Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo (D3850) and sister club Forbes Park (D3830). Past president Megs Lunn, the Executive Director of WALK INC also represented PFP, while mother club Kalibo hosted the storage and venue.

Both club presidents. Leo Martinez of RC Kalibo and President Rosie Reyes of Metro Kalibo were present along with PDG Raphy, Lady Nikki Tayco and some members from both clubs.
