Old and New Generations of RC San Pedro South provided Free Legal Assistance and Counseling

Last November 18, the Rotary Club of San Pedro South (RCSPS) and RCSPS-New Generations (NG) launched a continuous project entitled “Project: LIBRA.” This project aims to give Free Legal Assistance and Counseling (FLAC) to the community.

Attorney Marky Oliveros, Coordinator Bebe Blancia and AMFLAC team shared their precious time, talents and yes, even treasures, at Adelina 2 and 2A Covered Court, Barangay Maharlika at San Pedro City. With the permission of Homeowner’s President Dannie Diaz and Barangay Captain Jesse James Ting, the team was able to extend help to around 50 people from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

Serbisyong May Puso Founder Bernard Herrera and Serbisyong Ina of Divina Olivarez even provided sumptuous snacks for everyone while waiting. And it was Transforming President (TP) Jiro Pineda Lizarda of the Interact Club of Adelina 1 National High School and Justin Paolo of the Rotaract Club of San Pedro All Star who served as Sergeants at Arms as they ensured the safety protocols for everyone. Social media promotion was handled by Alagang Kalusugan, Rotaract Club of San Pedro South, Ms. Jemm Ting and all of RCSPS family.

(FUN TRIVIA: Libra is the seventh astrological sign of the Zodiac. Balance scales, representing law and justice, is the symbol of Libra. Accordingly, the scales indicate that Libras are looking for a partner or someone to help guide them throughout life. As the scales would suggest, a person under this air sign seeks balance in life.)

To express their gratitude, TP Zaldy Reyes of RCSPS – NG sponsored a token for Attorney Marky. Meanwhile, TP Guia Lopez de Leon of RCSPS and Past President Win Serrano of RCSPS – NG took care of their simple Binalot lunch. While preparing for their lunch, TP Guia and PP Erwin filmed Attorney Oliveros as he thoroughly discussed his noble advocacies. They candidly called this “RCSPS.tv.”

Fortunately, this team extends free legal assistance not only to indigents or those belonging to the marginalized sector. As there are so many restrictions being imposed during this time of pandemic, those requesting legal assistance or advice can now ask for an appointment thru AMFLAC or thru guia9@yahoo.com.

Finally, most clients seeking legal advice can not be generalized. In effect, the RCSPS family, old and new generations, is still in favor of conducting it on a personal level. Many questions that were raised weren’t as simple as a yes or no situation. While there are other free legal clinics or programs available, this one being provided by Attorney Marky is highly commendable because it is on a more personal level… and yes, a pro bono one.

Given that it is being showered with so much love and care, the best things in life, as we can all attest, are still free.
