RPIC Team: Your Friends in Public Image

Secretary Guia de Leon of Rotary Public Image Committee (RPIC) shares her insights on how dynamic the RPIC Team is. She also shares how Rotarians and Rotaractors of Zone 10A Philippines can approach any RPIC team member for help in Rotary Branding, etc.

Some people have been asking me, “how can you be so loyal to this person or to this group or to this certain cause?” And I usually answer with a quotation from The Little Prince, “To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world…”
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was right,  after all, with taming. We are most loving when we are friends with a certain person or team. We comply when we have faith in the system.

For years, RPIC have been known as “Branding Police.” Some Rotarians would even joked, “Hey, let us be careful with our logos. The Branding Police, the RPIC Team, might see you.”

And yes, RPIC team does notice… and we see a lot. Thanks to Social Networking Sites or SNS, we see not only the mistakes, but more of the goodness of the projects. We are truly inspired, yes, but we are here to remind everyone to remain inspiring and yet united in branding for Rotarians to become more effective ambassadors than ever.

Whenever I attend the meeting of the RPIC Team and document the Minutes of the Meeting, as their one and only Secretary, I always, always withhold myself from speaking a lot. I usually tell to myself, “Guia, this is your Student Time.”

I am taking down all their unique inputs, their brilliant ideas, but more than that, I am trying to imbibe their decades of learning inside and outside of Rotary.

In my young mind, “Wow! How fortunate I really am to be actually tagged here by Assistant to the Regional Public Image Coordinator (ARPIC) Lzl Manalo Castro-Ampatuan in this group!” (I super love you, ate!)

With or without the “ayudas” or random treats by RPIC Rey Castillo, this team is definitely one of the most dynamic groups that I have ever been into. It is not perfect, yes, but it is a place where brilliant minds with loving hearts thrive.

And it isn’t hard to imagine this. Why? The ARPICs include the well-seasoned, remarkable Past District Governors (PDG) namely Ronnie Custodio Gabalda, Jose Francisco Q. Cifra, Tito Enriquez, Jojo de Guia, PDG Jaypee Cadaing, and the RPIC’s successor, Ernesto Y. Choa. Brainstorming sessions with them are truly intense and yet productive everytime, to be honest.

And with the superior logical skills of ARPICs like District Governor Nominee Mate Espina, Immediate PDG Tonipi Paruñgao, and Past President (PP) Ramon Dacayo combined, all possible angles can actually be covered in an instant. Whenever someone asked the team, “Are there any subject matter that we need to delve into?” Then, you can expect the team to synthesize ideas upon ideas.

The unmatched creativity that certainly adds warmth and vibrance to the team, in my own humble opinion, are coming from ARPICs and PPs Josh Santos, Lilibeth Twincy Rotary, and Charlotte Cruz. This trio is also so in love with technological advances. They are just working behind the scenes… truly the wind beneath our wings… in all the sweetest ways possible.

Last but not the least, with their beauty and wit combined, I am certain that they are the Muses of the team. The kindness of ARPICs Lzl Castro Manalo Ampatuan and Jenny Romero Salud just transcends every time. Whenever they discuss People of Action or Telling Your Rotary Stories, I just can sense their blazing passion for Rotary. It’s just undescribably there.

So, yes, it is high time that all Rotarians of Zone 10A Philippines perceive the RPIC Team as a friendly group of capable Rotarians. May RPIC be seen as a “Nurse” or “Educator,” and not just as a strict “Branding Police Officer.”

Because at the core of it all, the team is just dedicated to nourish the image of our beloved Rotary Clubs. RPIC depicts not only what is wrong, but more on how can we, together, make things a lot better. With rose-colored glasses, may we see it with a firm faith that every correction is lovingly done for our own good, for everyone’s goodness.

Remember, before you print those tarpaulins or even billboards, you may send a message to the Zone 10A Rotary Voice’s Facebook first. Before you create a Merchandise, Posters or anything, you can consult your District Public Image Coordinators or the RPIC team first. Because yes, you may be confident with the design already, but it wouldn’t hurt to keep on asking and to keep on learning. We all do.
Again, the RPIC Team is here as a friend… to help heal with any wrong representations. All RPIC members are like nurses, or even loving mentors… always here to nurture, to educate, and to inspire everyone to be truly People of Action.

Finally, I would like to congratulate RPIC Rey Castillo for being able to put together the most committed ARPICs for Zone 10A Philippines ever possible. The team is composed of hardworking, magnificent Rotarians… always ready to serve everyone. It is definitely RPIC team’s pleasure to be always at your service.
