RC Parañaque Central helps feed the hungry through community pantries

In April 2021, Ana Patricia Non put up a modest food bank on Maginhawa Street in Quezon City to help feed the hungry amid another lockdown in Manila. It quickly became viral in social media with its slogan that reads in English, “Give according to your ability, take according to your need.” Many community pantries have opened up ever since, igniting the bayanihan spirit Filipinos are famous for.

RC Parañaque Central was one of those who joined the bayanihan movement. The club, with the joint efforts of its members, successfully put up community pantries in three areas of Manila: (1) Don Carlo Lavina, Las Pinas on April 23, (2) Valderrama, Tondo on April 25, (3) Tramo, Pasay on May 9.

It also collaborated with the D’Walkers of Atimonan to mount a joint community pantry at Atimonan Quezon from April 25 to 28. The distribution of food was organized; people who were lined up observed social distancing, and everyone was in face masks including the volunteers. This project got featured in GMA News.
