Our community volunteer Carl Francis led the household assessments a few weeks ago. Today, we turned over six (6) toilet bowls to Katipunan, Buruanga, Aklan.
Recipients of Rotary Project Toilet were:
Household #82 – Teria Malayas(70yo), single Mom with 6 children and works as Barangay Health Worker (BHW); household #83 – Jomar R . Layosa (32yo) with 2 children and works as Barangay Tanod; household #84 – Kent Brian Asuncion (25yo) with 2 children and works as Laborer (Kargador); household #85 – Dustin Rojo (29yo) with 1 child works part time only in a hotel; household #86 – Loyld Magbanua (24yo old) with 2 children works in a construction; and household #87 – Lino M. Iguiron (67yo) single and works as part time fisherman and utility.
From July 2021 to date, we have already distributed 87 toilet bowls. D3850 Governor Edwin G. To is very happy with the on-going flagship project this year, through Life-Changing Club President Loida M. Enero.
On the other hand, a surprise bonus of one (1) Jetmatic Water Pump was awarded to Nazareth, another area Carl requested to us (only the other day) to help change their very old Jetmatic and the only existing water hand pump for community use. We are grateful to our partners – Kiwanis Club of Golden Salakot (Kalibo) and Kiwanis Club of Kalibo Inc. in South Division 2C, for donating and joining us in response to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
When people have access to clean/safe water and sanitation, waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families. WASH is necessary to create a cleaner, healthier and productive life.
Also present are our other partners – Philippine Red Cross Aklan 143 volunteers, 2nd Aklan Mobile Force Company, Rotaract Club of Metro Kalibo, ALS Interact Club of Metro Kalibo and Parish Youth Ministry of St. Joseph the Worker (Numancia).
