Connecting Across Differences: Nelson Aspe

Rotary takes pride in its diversity that cuts across continents, gender, political affiliations, culture, age, and ethnicity.

The incoming batch of governors in the Philippine districts are an interesting microcosm capturing the diversity of Rotary, and yet there are discernible attributes common among them—the strongest of which are a desire to bring unity and peace in their districts, and the firmness with which they assert their decisiveness.

Introducing the governors for Rotary Year 2019 to 2020.

NELSON ASPE

District: 3800

Badge Name: Nelson

Classification: Public Accounting/Law Rotary Club of Wack Wack

Spouse: Mila Garchitorena, Bachelor of Science in Social Works

“I am a firm believer in the saying that in Rotary, ‘the position seeks the man.’ In Rotary, I am a classic example of a Servant Leader who kept serving incessantly until one day I found myself elected as District Governor, the highest position in the district. In my career, too, I rose from the ranks, and inch by inch became Deputy Commissioner for Operations at the Bureau of Internal Revenue, the last position I held for a record of over nine straight years under three presidential administrations.

“As governor, I shall be sharing the tasks with my coRotarians unless the task needs to be personally undertaken by me. But delegated or otherwise, my responsibility will always be there.”

Fr. Sonny Pahed Jr., Everett Olivan, Philip Tan, Bansawan Ibrahim, Liza Elorde, Jon Alonzo Jr., Nelson Aspe, Ador Tolentino Jr., Bernadette Herrera, Raphy Tayco, Jr.
