Quaranplant: Nurture your own garden during quarantine and beyond

RC San Pedro South of RID3820 President Guia de Leon shares her reflections on the club’s kickoff project

After the successful kickoff project launch of “Quaranplant: Nurture Your Own Garden” during the quarantine and beyond on July 1, 2020, we are now having a series of “Brigada Eskwela” and “Tree-Parenting/Vegetable Gardening/Decomposting/Recycling” activities here in our community.

On July 9, 2020, I looked around and appreciated the beauty of nature at six o’ clock in the morning. Our event was set at 8:00 am and I began to ask myself, “Why am I so early? And why, on earth, am I doing the things that I am doing?”

I am maybe the most quiet gal in the corner, but for some bizarre reasons, the universe has always been picking me to stand up as a guide.

I am blessed to see the sun as it rise and as it set numerous times in this lifetime. I am always grateful to feel the gentle breeze in my face as I look around with wonder! And specifically, I am fortunate to obtain thousands of seeds from the Bureau of Plant and Industry, Department of Agriculture, City Hall and some friends.

As I fixed the school items for donation of PP Nanding Bongao, as I gave the free breakfast sets prepared by Rotarian Mykish Sha-Sha Sacro for the teachers, as I endorsed all the seeds, masks, recycled bottles and more to our chosen beneficiaries…I felt good, honestly, to be somehow a blessing.

Then, the answer to the questions dawned on me. Cliche as it may seem, love is the driving force of service. I am always early at service events because of love. I keep on doing things for the community because of love.

Finally, while it is so human to err, I am proud to say that my imperfections had led me to be ordained by the Maker of the Universe
And yes, just like you, I am loved. As always.
