Polio patient Jeffrey Malolos gives his best and inspires others to do the same

Meet 38-year-old Jeffrey Malolos who hails from Kalibo, Aklan. He has been afflicted with polio since he was one year old.

Polio was rampant in the 80s but Jeffrey’s parents did not let him feel that he was disabled. He lived a normal life even though school was met with multiple struggles. He eventually finished a degree in electronics through the help of family and friends. Now, Jeffrey is married with two children.

Since the COVID-19 lockdown, Jeffrey has been sidelined in work and been wishing for another livelihood opportunity and a new wheelchair.

He stayed positive until the Rotary responded and granted his wish. His message to others like him who are differently-abled: “Being with polio is not a hindrance if you are focused on your goals. I embrace it as a challenge.”

On staying optimistic, he had this advice to share: “To be disabled is not an excuse. We need to be positive so we can get what we want. We need to serve our purpose in life. I get my strength from my family, and my children. Even if it is hard, we need to live a normal life. We only live in this world once. We just need to give our best.”
