Rotary Clubs support Department of Agriculture’s KADIWA

Due to the ongoing pandemic and some heightened political tensions all over the world, most people are living in a state of unease—to say the least.

However, that doesn’t mean that you and I have to continue to contribute to that narrative of anxiety and unrest. We have the power to provide the world exactly what it needs right now… charity, good health, and tons of inspiration.

That is why we, Transforming President (TP) Guia Lopez de Leon of the Rotary Club of San Pedro South, TP Loveday Alyssa of the Rotary Club of Tayabas Central and TP Amy Lea of the Rotary Club of Lucena University District wanted you to also support the Kadiwa.

This Department of Agriculture project is a market system which facilitates the selling of major agricultural goods at reasonable prices to the consuming public through partnerships with local government units and the private sector.

“We are happy that our Kadiwa program serves a double-edged purpose of reaching out to farmer-producers and other community workers, while providing access to fresh and affordable food to consumers,” said Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar.

The project is perfect in today’s landscape, and it is doing well. In fact, in a virtual press conference on July 2020, Agriculture Assistant Secretary Noel Reyes said, “About 81,243 metric tons of agricultural produce worth P5.22 billion had been brought to the National Capital Region.”

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-led Kadiwa sold 12,042 MT of seafoods worth P19.82 million, while the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority-led Kadiwa isDA on-the-go sold 45 MT of fish worth P9.28 million.

Together with TP Steffany Echanes of Rotaract San Pedro South, Charter President Julian Adique of Rotaract San Pedro All Star and TP Jiro Pineda Lizarda of Interact Adelina 1 National High School, we believe that this system can truly arrest the skyrocketing prices of basic goods and commodities.

Thus, to help the farmers get the best prices for their crops, the presidents pledged their support to Kadiwa in creating awareness and patronizing the system. At the same time, the items they ordered will be donated to the victims of successive typhoons.

To be part of Kadiwa, be it online or personal, you can contact TP Guia for more details at 09566176917.
