Our Clubs

The power of 5, 4 and 1

“Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.”

The five powerful Rotary Clubs—Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo, Rotary Club of Forbes Park, Rotary Club of Makati, Rotary Club Midtown Diliman, and Rotary Club West Davao—of the four powerful Rotary Districts 3850, 3830, 3780 and 3860 with one powerful speaker, Reverend Fr. Vincent Cajilig, hosted a Recollection. Entitled “Gifted to Give,” it was held last December 5 via Zoom.

The response was overwhelming as it was streamed live by media partners, MULAT Broadcasting Entertainment and Media, Inc., Love Radio 100.1 FM and Kalibo Cable TV Network. It was also crossposted simultaneously by the Facebook pages of the 5 Rotary Clubs, the St. Joseph The Worker Parish and Diocese of Kalibo. The talk was attended by participants across the regions and outside of the country too.

The said recollection was also in partnership with Hakid ni San Jose sa Parokya it Numancia by the St. Joseph The Worker Parish and Sto. Nino Seminary in the Diocese of Kalibo. Here’s a summary of the powerful words shared by Reverend Fr. Vincent Cajilig:

Who are? What are you? What is the importance of your life? What is your purpose? Do you know what you have received?
You know it is hard to give when you do not know what you have received and are blessed with. Ask yourself. Remember, everything that we have is God’s grace to us. We have life, our family, our talents, etc. In a way we know this. But, we claim these things that it is ours, but it is His.

In losing yourself to help others you find life, said Jesus.  But if you keep your life, you lose it. This pandemic shows the hearts of the people. Hoarding, corruption, selfishness are winning over and the sense of family and brotherhood is lost.

The greatest manifestation of love is to give your life to others. What is a person’s purpose to give? Simply, this human being is created in the likeness and image of God. It is a blessing! To give means  to transform from being human to something Divine. The greatest gift that we receive is the gift of identity that you are the child of God. To give is not an ordinary thing or because we just want to give. God has planted in our hearts that goodness, the divine gift that we are created good. During crisis, that kindness will be awakened because that is the call of time.

You become a Rotarian to give. This is not only for the sake of fame, of giving, of being there as being human. It is there in your hearts, the gift of giving in within you.

We are one church. We have one Holy Spirit. It gives us various charism and roles. Why is that the level of talents are different in each person? This is to realize that we need each other…to draw us to each other. That we need each other to fill in the gap. It is true that no one is poor that he cannot give. No one is rich that he cannot receive. You are given that vocation to share and give. Give yourself not just financially, materially, and even yourself to serve. To give to others gives our life a meaning. Amidst the pandemic, He is transforming our hearts.

Rotarians, why do you give and share? It is faith. That you have receive something from the Lord and God is commissioning you to share. We are one body of Christ, so it is our moral obligations to make others feel that God is truly alive through us. It is a joy to see others happy because you give. That feeling within is more than a gift.
