RC of Antique’s Book Nook rekindles love for reading

The world is highly wired because of the internet and social media. Gadgets shrank the distance between nations and people.   But this very connectivity also discouraged some of us, particularly the young, from reading books, magazines and the like.

The Rotary Club of Antique headed by Life Changing President President Carolyn May Deslate has fostered the culture and love for reading through its Storytelling Activity in partnership with The Book Nook, a nationwide project of the National Book Development Board that aims to promote a reading culture and support local book writers.

Last Nov 12-16, 2021, the storytelling activity catered to the children of the municipal government employees of San Jose, Antique and the youth belonging to the PWD group.

On Nov 20, 2021, the team of RC of Antique, which included Interact Antique members, went to the Ati community in Brgy. Igcalawagan  and also conducted a storytelling activity.  The venue was more than an hour’s ride from the town of San Jose, Antique and a half an hour trek from where the transportation stops.
