5-in-1 Activities of the Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo

Last November 20, 2021, five activities were completed by the Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo in just a day!  It was amazing and all can just wonder how they did it.  Excellent planning, cooperation, and teamwork enabled them to achieve many great things.  It was a day spent for others and for love.   Here are the activities:

Life-changing President Loida M. Enero inducted the new officers and members of ALS Interact Club of Metro Kalibo for Rotary Year 2021-2022.  The induction was held at Ati Village Bulwang, Numancia, Aklan. It was covered by the club’s media partner – Kalibo Cable TV Network.

“I hope you find your purpose, lose yourself in the service of others and continue to do good in the world, no matter how big or small. As your mother club, we thank you for your commitment to serve with us, to serve the community especially the poorest of the poor. Each time you become kind and generous of your time, talent, and treasures, you are blessed and you become a better person. Remember to always do the right thing and our motto is “Service Above Self”. This was said by Pres. Loida in her speech.

Simultaneously, in the Ati Village, a happy bunch of  25 Aeta children, who are  currently enrolled in Bulwang Elementary School,  received school supplies sponsored and distributed by the  Rotaract Club of Metro Kalibo.

A reading program was also conducted.  It was  led by Storytellers Ms. Michelle C. Macahilas and Ms. Jackeline E. Tabilon – Kinder, Teachers of Numancia Integrated School. The children just loved stories and they were very attentive. They answered questions promptly posted by the teachers. It was seen in the eyes of the children their eagerness and willingness to learn.  They did miss going to school too.

Likewise, the club’s humanitarian partners,  Philippine Red Cross Youth -Aklan Chapter, taught the little children the proper cleaning of hands with soap, as the most effective way to prevent disease. After which, food and Covid 19 Care Kit were distributed by the Interactors, Rotaractors,  and Rotarians present.About 25 mothers with children received the Covid 19 Care Kit which includes alcohol, towel, toothpaste & toothbrush, facemask and Vit C with Zinc.

The club was grateful to its partners in service, the Philippine Pharmacist Association Inc. -Aklan Chapter, the  Kalibo Cable TV Network and Love Radio. Special thanks were given to Aeta Village Chieftain, Rosita Pizaro and husband,  Jose Pizaro, and to teacher Cristobal Victor Escalano, the District IP Coordinator and School IP Coordinator of Bulwang Elementary School, for gathering the children and facilitating them.

Fifth activity was the tree planting, at the Ati Village, led by ALS Interact Club President,  Mheal Rod Flores, Adviser, Roje Erenia,  and New Generations Director/PN Edwin Autencio, and with the support of Life-Changing President Loida M. Enero.  Past President Ricky Molo donated seedlings of  fruit-bearing trees.  Earth is a home for different living species. Everyone is dependent on the environment for food, air, water, and other needs,  hence planting trees is a must to preserve the environment.

Credits and merits were aptly given to the ALS Interact Club, the  Rotaract Club of Metro Kalibo, the Philippine Red Cross Youth-Aklan, teachers of ALS and Numancia Integrated School, and the media partners,  Kalibo Cable TV Network and Love Radio.

Special shout out  to ALS Interact Club president Mheal Rod Flores, Adviser Roje Erenia, New Generations Director and  President Nominee Edwin Autencio, and teacher Cristobal Victor Escalona – District IP Coordinator and School IP Coordinator of Bulwang Elementary School, RAC President, Uriel Bolivar and to life-changing President Loida M.
