The Rotary Club of Metro Bacolod (RCMB) sister club in Australia, Rotary Club Blacktown, extended their assistance to the affected families of super typhoon Odette in Kabankalan and Sipalay City through the efforts of the Rotary Club of Metro Bacolod.
In keeping with their 15-year traditional commitment of conducting Medical Missions in Negros, RC Blacktown has extended their services this year to the typhoon-hit families especially those in Sipalay, one of the most damaged by the recent typhoon.
The project was named “Ambag-Ambag sa Sur” in reference to a local patois which in English translates to “contribution or help”. The activity was in partnership with the Handog Pinoy Inc. (Hapi), and the 7am Prayer Warrior team.
A total of some 100 boxes of vitamin C, 59 large sacks of used clothing, 17 dozens of assorted slippers and 60 boxes of paracetamol medicines were distributed to the community.
Joining Life-Changing President Jeinz Salgado were Past Presidents Renato Monfort, Tess Sayat, Joel Jaranilla, and Haig Conmigo. Also in attendance were Rotarians Myra Hegarty and Chinky Dulaca, Rotary’s friends Jing Sagrado and Emmanuel Salgado, RCMB scholar Charlene Gonzalodo, Rotary Council of Presidents led by President Kendall Ang, District Governor Nominee Mate Espina, and Past District Governor Jundad Legislador.
In December 23, 2021, in response to a plea for help from Sipalay City, the RCMB donated 88 blue jars equivalent to 5 gallons of water each and 105 food packs with another 150 blue jars at 5 gallons of water per jar.
This was followed by another batch of 150 blue jars at 5 gallons of water per jar sent last Christmas day to Sipalay City through the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
President Salgado and the whole RC Metro Bacolod team are grateful to the partners and donors for making the relief operations a reality thereby helping to alleviate the plight of those badly affected by Typhoon Odette.
