Rotary Community Corps of Metro Kalibo holds training orientation for dressmaking course

The RCC or Rotary Community Corps of Metro Kalibo (D3850) was chartered last January 2, 2022. Rotary created these corps to provide a formal mechanism that provides local non-Rotarian volunteers with an organizational structure to do good in their local communities.  As such they operate largely independent of the sponsoring clubs, but still report to them for their actions. There are officially 10 charter members who are non-working mothers.

Prior to organizing the group, they were the successful graduates of one week Dressmaking Livelihood Skills Training through the Area of Focus – Community and Economic Development, held last October 23-30, 2021 at Albasan Elementary School, Numancia, Aklan. It was led by President Nominee Edwin L. Autencio, who happens to be the RCC Adviser, too.

Last April 8, 2022, upon the recent approval of our partnering institution  – Numancia Integrated School (NIS) through the School Principal I – Mr. Gabriel Espiritu R. Vega, Jr., they have started their first day of the many weekend sessions prepared by PP Edwin using the RY 2018-2019 Global Grant #1980249 Dressmaking TechVoc equipment.

The objective of which is to further train the RCC members to enhance the basic course of dressmaking leading to National Certification Level II of TESDA; to gain livelihood skills and cooperative entrepreneurship to produce trendy products like fashionable clothing and accessories; and can deliver dressmaking services.

We are now looking into their proposal for their capital start-up and individual equipment needed, so after the summer training and when they get accredited by TESDA, they will become (equipped) professional seamstresses. This is likewise our continuing response to one of the Seven Areas of Focus of Rotary International – Community and Economic Development.
TOgether, we can Serve To Change Lives.
