Through the Lens of 8 Pillars of Peace

According to the COVID-19 and Peace report, the pandemic and its subsequent economic crises are likely to radically change the way some countries operate. The long-term responses of countries to COVID-19 will be shaped by Positive Peace, but will also shape the Positive Peace landscape of the future. (IEP)

Peace Ambassador Alumna PP Melrose “Megs” Lunn presented the topic about, “Understanding the Pandemic Through the Lens of Pillars of Positive Peace”, therefore giving the audience ideas how the pandemic’s impact some areas of the positive peace pillars. The Rotary-Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) 8 Pillar of Peace is equally relevant to Peace and Conflict Prevention & Resolution, one of the Area of Focus of Rotary International.

Other speakers talk about Anti-Terrorism, Anti-Criminality, and Anti-Drugs.

The Social and Peace Awareness Campaign’s first day was held last May 25, 2022 hosted by the Aklan State University in Banga Campus. While, Rotaractor Almera Manalili was the program host on the 2nd day of May 26, 2022, at DLRC Ibajay Central School, Ibajay, Aklan. More or less 800 participants attended in the two days event.

The event was an initiative of the Aklan Provincial Police Office (APPO) Provincial Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (PAG PTD), through its Youth Sector, in partnership with Aklan BagHay Inc., National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) RO6, and Aklan State University, in support of the PNP Patrol Plan 2030 that aims to provide communities a safer place to live, work and do business.
