RC Metro Kalibo turns over two sewing machines to the mothers of RCC Metro Kalibo

It has been almost two years now since we launched the RCC of Metro Kalibo “Kababayenhan nga Manugtahi” as a result of a series of dressmaking training and workshops prior and during the pandemic. The RCC members are non-working single or young mothers who are enrolled with the Alternative Learning System (ALS) at Numancia Integrated School.

It is their wish since its inception to have their own sewing machine and building where they can work as their livelihood to help their children and family get a better life. There were many promises of pledges to help, etc. but to no avail.

RCC Pres. Hana Lee Fulgencio proposed to our club last year that all ten of them would need a sewing machine (standard and/or heavy duty) so they can work well. Last month, during the Community and Economic Development theme, IPDG Edwin To pledged to donate two sewing machines to RCC of Metro Kalibo as a start up.

Finally, through the help of Director Public Image PP Megs Lunn it has finally arrived. She is also working with international partner/s to complete their wishes.

Early on, President Romeo Reyes, Jr., VP/PE Edwin Autencio and PP Rosie Reyes formally turned over the two equipment. We are forever grateful to Immediate Past District Governor (IPDG) Edwin To, through his inspiration of “TOgether We Can, TOgether We Will”.

RCC of Metro Kalibo was also officially chartered by Rotary International last January 2, 2022. They have long completed the final 40-day training for NC II assessment and hopefully soon, they will take the certification program from TESDA.

Imagine their future. Imagine making dreams real.
