RCQC MediaTech Commences Successful SPED Project

It is without a doubt that the pandemic created various changes in our lives over the past months and years. Regardless, RCQC MediaTech wishes to give back and serve our community during a time when it is necessary for all of us to work together to mitigate this health crisis. Thus, in the spirit of Rotarian volunteerism, our team conducted “Project SPED” last August 31, 2022, for the eighty students and six teachers of San Jose Heights Elementary School, located in the City of San Jose del Monte.

Project SPED, which stands for “Special Education,” was a series of multiple programs which aimed to cater to Rotary’s seven areas of focus. Alongside that, it was also meant to allow us to conduct our vocational deeds for the betterment of our club. Headed by ISP Meric Mara and with the permission of the School Principal, Mrs. Rowena Dalimot, our team went to the site and executed our agendas. Among the projects we held involved a feeding program for the children of the school, a gift-giving project, a storytelling session for the kids, a seed and vitamin donation drive, and an activity that allowed the students to express their emotions through drawing. We also conducted a seminar about the Four-Way Test and installed a poster about it through the building’s hallways, meant to help guide the people in the school about one of Rotary’s primary philosophies and moral codes.

Overall, the project was a success. The kids had fun as we interacted with them, giving us bright smiles and sometimes even hugging us to show their genuine thanks for what we did. The teachers also extended their gratefulness for the donation drive we did and for the time we spent to make the children happy. Ultimately, we felt incredibly proud that we were able to mark a change in the lives of the people of San Jose Heights Elementary School regardless of the health restrictions that are still in place as a result of the virus.

*RCQC MediaTech would like to express our gratitude to Mr. Keynes Roa, owner of Health and Natural Collections, for providing the vitamins.*
