Suba it Pag-Eaum kicks off at Napaan, Malay, Aklan

On September 8, 2023, after careful brainstorming and community assessment for months by our environmental partners Aklan Trekkers, Inc., we have finally launched the “SUBA IT PAG-EAUM” environmental project. Our aim is to provide a long-term and sustainable solution to preserve and safeguard the rivers in Malay, Aklan. This is especially crucial due to the rapid development of the protected forest area upstream.

After the short program at Napaan Elementary School, the team together with the pupils went for a Riverine Walk to Napaan River to appreciate and think of an inspiration, express their thoughts through arts (acrylic painting), and later to process their outputs.

This three-phase project aims to address not only environmental concerns, but also the Rotary Areas of Focus such as maternal and child health, disease prevention, peace building, basic education and literacy, WASH, and economic and community development.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the Rotary Club of Las Pinas-Camino Real and Aklan Trekkers for an unforgettable adventure. We would also like to express our appreciation to our media partners Kalibo Cable TV and Love Radio for taking the time to cover the first phase of our Suba it Pag a-eom Project in Napaan, Malay, Aklan.

Special thanks to the Rotaract Club of Metro Kalibo, NIS Interact Club of Metro Kalibo, Infant Jesus Academy Kalibo VOICE Club, Napaan Barangay Council, and Napaan Elementary School teachers and pupils for joining us.

In addition, the project is also in collaboration with Rotary Clubs of Las Pinas South, BGC Central, Makati Metro, Makati Ayala Triangle, Makati Uptown, Paranaque Metro South and Las Pinas of District 3830, respectively.

We’re eagerly anticipating the final artwork created by the children today, inspired by the riverine walk.
