300 families benefit from Project Lingap of RC Downtown Calapan

Last July 20, 2021, Mindoro island was hit by Typhoon Fabian that gravely affected different barangays in Calapan City, Naujan and Baco. Heavy rains resulted to flooding and landslides, many houses were submerged to water that residents were transferred to evacuation sites, agriculture was heavily.

A day after the typhoon Nanette Geronimo president elect of RC Downtown Calapan went out to see how big the damages and took footage of typhoon damage which she posted in her Facebook account. Many responded to the said post and committed to send assistance the very first who responded were RC Makati LC President Louie Aseoche represented by Rtn. Ron Dotaro and sister club RC Downtown Batangas LC President Joseph Ylagan.

Last July 29, 2021, the two clubs came to Calapan City to bring relief goods for 300 families. The goods were distributed by RC Dowtown Calapan together with LCP Joseph Ilagan and Rtn Ron Dotaro in Sto. Nino, Maidlang, Sta. Cruz and Bucayao. RC Downtown Calapan on the other hand added goods, health kits and used clothes to the relief goods brought by the 2 clubs. The relief operation Project Lingap would not be possible without the assistance of barangay officials. Barangay Health Workers and Barangay Nutrion Scholars played major role in identifying the actual numbers of families who were severely affected by typhoon. Rotaract Downtown Calapan, Tanyag Kultura and Minscat as well as TUKLAS, a LGBTQ organization in Calapan City assisted in the relief operations.

These activities were documented and showed in local tv channel TvNet Newsline courtesy of Past Presidents Osias Navarro, Ricbenson Marasigan and Director for Public Image Romeo Medina are members of the Board of Directors of TVNET.
