Rotary Club of Tiaong Hiyas helps protect barangays and frontliners with distribution of personal protective equipment

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, RC Tiaong Hiyas aimed to protect frontliners who are risking their lives day by day. They sought to live the legacy of late Rotary International Founder Paul Harris who celebrated his birthday last April 19.

The club stepped in providing face masks for frontliners as the government required wearing one when going outside. TRF Chairperson Mayeth Resma donated 100 face masks which was distributed by her sister Rtn Mary Jane Resma Mendoza to the police, barangay health workers, barangay tanod, and staff of the Tiaong Municipal Social Welfare and Development office.

New member Glenda Dela Cruz also sponsored and distributed 50 washable face masks to Barangay Lumingon. The club encouraged Rotarians and beneficiaries to share and post their picture with the face mask.

Club President Dorie Umali also distributed DIY face shields for those working at the frontlines. She and other members visited areas including the Lagalag Checkpoint and the Lusacan Public Market. They also gave 23 hazmat suits, 10 boxes of gloves, 5 boxes of headcaps, 5 boxes of shoe covers, and 45 face masks to healthcare workers of the Municipal Health Office.

Additionally, the Rotarians helped the family of Aling Jennifer who lived in Sitio Bagong Silang of Cabatang Tiaong Quezon. Aling Jennifer received food aid from President Dorie Umali who personally delivered the goods.
