How RC Club of Cauayan ended Rotary Year 2019-2020

Before the Rotary Year 2019-2020 drew to a close, the Rotary Club of Cauayan held culminating events to seal the year on a high note

RC Club of Cauayan pledged to continue to do its share in the new Rotary Area of Focus of supporting the environment. It took pride in presenting the marker of the Rotary Club of Cauayan Ecopark with over 1,000 thriving mahogany trees planted last November 2019 during the joint Tree Planting Project of RC Cauayan, OLPI Rotaract Club, and the PYCS Interact Club.

Come June 2020, under the leadership of the club’s first lady President Lani Alivia, the last project “Quench Thirst, Save Lives” was unveiled. The Water Refilling Station was awarded to the Rotary Community Corps (RCC) of Barangay Maligaya in the Forest Region of Cauayan.

President Lani headed the team and trooped to the forest region for the blessing of the project and to personally award it to RCC Maligaya. A memorandum of agreement was likewise signed to ensure the sustainability of the project.

The new Rotary Community Corps in the Forest Region was sponsored by RC of Cauayan this year to create impact through service projects for the community and nearby villages. The area is visited by the Rotarians every Rotary year where they carry out projects such as distribution of school supplies and workbooks, construction of school buildings and tree planting activities.

The Rotary Community Corps of Barangay Maligaya was later formed. It is the second RCC sponsored by the Club. The first RCC sponsored by the club is the Rotary Community Corps of San Francisco, Cauayan City, Isabela which is on the same city as Barangay Maligaya, more or less an hour drive away from the city proper.

Members of the RC of Cauayan went to Barangay Maligaya, met and organized prospective members and discussed the need of creating a RCC to strengthen community ties. The Club, during its frequent visits to the Forest Region, observed that the community had limited access to safe drinking water, a problem the members sought to resolve by donating a water station.  A member of the RCC expressed her willingness to donate a portion of her lot for the establishment of the project.

On the first week of June, the construction of the water station started and was ready for business on June 29.  The total cost of the construction of the building and the water station equipment amounted to Php 650,000.00 which was sourced from the Club’s funds.

The Club will provide the necessary training to the members of the RCC for the operation and periodic maintenance of the Water Station.
