RCSPS Projects for Mothers: “Mask to Mask” and “Project: Light Up”

“Mask to Mask” is another signature project of Transforming President (TP) Guia Lopez de Leon of the Rotary Club of San Pedro South (RCSPS). This project officially commenced on October 11 at Barangay GSIS, San Pedro, Laguna, with around 200 mothers as beneficiaries

“Mask to Mask” started when TP Guia asked her mother Nancy to reach out for the facial mask. Her mom gave her a surgical face mask instead. They laughed so hard then, but this gave birth to the idea of giving away both beauty masks and safety masks to the community.
Fortunately, upon learning this cute “Mask to Mask” project, TP Eva Beltran of the Rotary Club of Lipa South (RCLS) immediately gave TP Guia two boxes of Iron supplements for the mothers.

RCSPS and RCLS both celebrate maternity, maternal bonds, and mothers’ influence in society. These clubs are truly grateful to all the mothers out there. Interestingly, the 9th Post Engineer Detachment, IMCOM of the Philippine Army also donated flashlights and rechargeable bulbs. The army initially endorsed hundreds of lights to sir Jose Beron Guzman, a proud member of Team Gatas.
The Philippine Army officers wanted the Rotaract San Pedro South, Rotaract San Pedro All Star, Interact Adelina 1 National High School and all RCSPS partners to distribute the said lights in the remote areas of San Pedro City, Laguna. Sir Guzman stated, “May tiwala sila sa atin, sa Serbisyong May Puso. At syempre, sa Rotary. Napakatagal na ng organisasyon ninyo. At personal akong naniniwala na lahat kayo ay aktibo.” (They trust us, Service with a Heart. And of course, to the Rotary. Your organization is old. And I personally think that you are all very active.)

Hence, the “Project: Light Up” was born. Actually, Alagang Kalusugan, Inc. Head Yhet Basas Abelgas originally thought of having this project be named as “ILAW TO ILAW” or “LIGHT TO LIGHT.” Free “ilaw” for the “ilaws ng tahanan,” that is.

Like in most cultures out there, mothers are the lights of our homes. And we don’t need just one special day to celebrate mothers.
Determined to be truly transforming, TP Guia decided to be the “Mother’s Fairy Godmother” every Saturday thru the “Mask to Mask” and “Project: Light Up” projects.

Fortunately, Vice Mayor Art Mercado and Serbisyong May Puso Founder Bernard Herrera continuously give RCSPS boxes of Calcium Carbonate and gallons of Holly’s Milk. District Governor Renato Sarmiento Atienza also handed Vitamin C tablets to be given away by all his TPs in District 3820.

Hence, everyone can expect more and more creative projects from RC San Pedro South team to beautify, nourish and protect all the mothers. They are, after all, the ultimate lights of our society.
