Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo’s WASH project kicks off

Finally, after a series of rainfalls, the Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo has started digging.

This is the club’s first hand pump in Barangay Cabugan in Buruanga, Aklan. The other project site is Barangay Habana of the same town.

This year, Project WASH was made possible through the partnership with international sister clubs Rotary Club of Jefferson and Rotary Club of Lakemills (D6250) Wisconsin, USA as well as with local sister club Rotary Club of Pasay Southeast (D3810). It was in cooperation with St. Joseph The Worker Parish/Sto. Nino Seminary HAKID team led by Rev. Fr. Vincent Cajilig and Philippine Red Cross Aklan.

Before the delivery to the project site, the Rotarians mounted the “rain or shine” sticker to the 2,000 liter-tanks first.
When people have access to clean water and sanitation, waterborne diseases decrease; children stay healthier and attend school more regularly; and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families.
